SPEND LESS IN COMING FESTIVALS & SAVE ENVIRONMENT

Recently the floods in Bihar and Orissa have made many people living in small towns and villages- Homeless. The earth has done step-mother behavior. Quite a lot are suffering from various diseases while some have lost their kith and kin. If well thought-out then we will come to know that some among these natural calamities are man made. We ourselves are creditworthy for upsetting the nature and the consequences can be seen. The flood in Kosi River is a result of tampering Himalayas, Mr. Subrata Sinha, Sr. Geologist has clearly stated that tampering Himalayas, making dams and roads will cause major floods in the upcoming years. The urbanization of the people has forced government to tamper the layout of earth.

Excessive consumerism leads to depletion of earth resources like petroleum, natural gas, vegetation and minerals. The more we extract the more we move towards disaster like earthquakes, floods and droughts.

It is high time that we control our expenses. We should buy only what is actually needed. We should avoid overspending. One of the ways to control consumerism is through self-resolution. Yes, we can control excessive consumerism during forthcoming festivals and in this way we can save our mother earth and our environment for a better life. Here are some tips where we can conserve earth resources:

  1. By following International – “Buy Nothing Day” on 29th Nov. 2008.
  2. Send e-mail greetings and no paper greetings on festivals.
  3. Buy no gifts for your relatives and friends. Wish them verbally / through email or by inviting on dinner and having get together. Spend money on good healthy dishes and food in place of physical gifts.
  4. Purchase sweets to minimum. Avoid oily, sugary wet and colored sweets.
  5. Say no to crackers in order to make the environment pollution free.
  6. Donate to Prime Minister Relief fund or Bihar flood relief campus on festival day. In this way you will feel very happy and satisfied.
  7. Avoid moving out to ease traffic on roads during festivals.

Friends this is high time to open our eyes, sharpen our ears and raise our voice against the molestation of earth by man, if this will continue as it is ……then the result will be .DISASTER.. Nothing else.

Let’s help out our mother earth and we will surely help ourselves from these earthly disasters.
